Window Coverings

The term Window Coverings covers a broad range of styles and treatments, and can refer to both soft and hard window coverings.

We’ll start with soft treatments also referred to as CUSTOM DRAPERY

Custom draperies are by far the perfect way to add the finishing touch to any room.   They add an extra layer of finishing, styling and softness to a room.  They add extra colour when required, they can reduce noise levels and control light.  They are definitely one of the important finishing touches to any room.

  • Do you need wall to wall drapery or just a valance?
  • Could stationary panels do the trick?
  • At what height should you hang your rod?
  • Will you need additional or special lighting control for a particular window?

Draperies can be beautiful, functional and/or both!  Today’s custom window coverings come in so many different styles that you might find it overwhelming figuring out which style and which hardware is right for the window and your room.

From the traditional Swag and Jabot to the casual Grommet style to the current trend of Ripple-Fold for that ‘glam’ contemporary look there is a style right for any room and any situation.  Maybe you just need a decorative Valance to top off a beautiful window.

Selecting the right treatment can truly make a room.  Selecting the wrong treatment will definitely break a room and negate an otherwise beautiful room, not to mention the expense and headache of possibly having to redo the treatment or worse having to live with something you’re not in love with!

Drapery rods are no longer relegated to a secondary role behind the drapery, they have moved to the forefront of the most beautiful window dressings.

Even the simplest window treatment can be enhanced by adding beautiful hardware.

Draperies on decorative rings are becoming more and more popular for a de-constructed, casual yet elegant, look.

The rings and brackets can be as simple as iron rings, or they can have as much detail as the road and finials themselves, lending an air of luxury.

We carry a large assortment of drapery hardware to complement any decorating style.  There are thousands of options available, let us help you choose the right option for you.

If you have one or more challenging windows, give us a call, we’ve probably come across a solution in our many years of serving Cornwall and Ottawa clients.  We’re here to help you make the right decision.  Our process is simple;

Our Process

1. Contact Us

Call or email us to schedule a one hour window treatment consultation in your home. There is a consultation fee of $225 payable at the time of booking your appointment. Payment by etransfer is required

2. In-Home Consultation

We come out to your home to discuss your needs, paying close attention to the function and style of your room and needs for your windows. We will recommend solutions, take measurements of the windows, and give you an idea of style treatments and price range required for said room and windows. We recommend a minimum project budget of $2500.00.

3. Proposal/Estimate

If, after the initial consultation, you wish for us to design your window treatments we will send you a proposal/estimate outlining the project summary including an estimated price range. This price range is an estimate only and the final amount will depend on selected fabrics and hardware.
A non-refundable $1000.00 deposit is required upon approval of the proposal to move forward with design, fabric and hardware selection.

4. Presentation

Once all of the components have been selected, we will schedule a review, either in your home or our studio to present the overall design vision of the window treatments for your room. For more complicated window treatments we will present drawings and elevations, where required, of the intended window treatment, as well as review the selected fabrics and hardware and final pricing for approval.

5. Ordering and Production

Upon approval of the design, we will require a 75% deposit to move forward with ordering and production. We will order all of the required components, which are then delivered to our workroom for custom production. We check in periodically and update you on the progress. This process can take up to 6 weeks.

6. Pre-Installation

Once the hardware arrives we will schedule a day to install the drapery hardware and check and take our final measurements. Installation can range from 2-6 hours depending on the type of window treatment(s) and quantity of windows.

7. Installation

Once custom drapery has arrived (approximately 3 weeks after hardware installation) we will schedule a day to install the drapery. Installation can range from 2-6 hours depending on the type of window treatment(s) and quantity of windows. We will steam and dress the drapery according to the treatment designed, and install any accessories such as tiebacks and/or finials.
**NOTE** Final payment is due one week before installation and we will email you this invoice. Payment by e-transfer is required to schedule the final installation.

8. Final Walk Through

After installation, we will do a walk through with you to make sure you are happy with your beautiful new window treatments. At this time we will also go over drapery function, and if there are hard window treatments also installed, such as blinds and shades, we will go over their function and operation as well. We’ll also provide you with tips on how to care for your new custom pieces.
