FAQ’s

How can you benefit from working with us?

With Sheridan Interiors, Kitchens + Baths as part of your team you get our expertise and support to guide you through the thousands of decisions required on any given project whether large or small.

You’ll save money by having comprehensive project documents completed and in service reducing the added extra costs of change orders once the project is underway.

You’ll save time by having a well-planned out project so that your project runs smoothly and on time. This means less time on the site, less time worrying about selections and less confusion trying to understand construction language. Consider us your personal construction concierge, we take the stress out of your project.

You will increase your property value by having a professionally executed design that stands the test of time and takes your home to the next level of desirability. One of our client’s house listing prompted a bidding war and our client ended up getting considerably more than the initial asking price. That’s a great return on investment (ROI)

Hiring a designer is often misconceived as being expensive, but in reality, it’s always more expensive, more time and money, doing things twice when your design choices don’t quite work out as planned.

What do you need for your first consultation with us?

Collect your thoughts and photos of what styles you like and don’t like and share that with us.  Start a Pinterest board or Houzz Ideabook to organize your photos.  This helps to qualify your statements regarding styles, for example: what looks like “American Country” to you may not be how we categorize it. We’ll then take your information into consideration and prepare a preliminary personalized presentation for our next meeting.

Be honest about your budget with us so that we can design accordingly and meet or exceed your expectations.  There is no judgment on our end.  Being open about your budget will save time and disappointment.  If you don’t have any idea of budget we’ll help define that for you and let you know what your proposed reno or decor project could cost once we meet with you in your home.

What to expect during the initial consultation and why is there a fee?

The initial consultation is intended to discuss and review the goals and desired outcome for the space(s) your are needing help with, as well as assessing the overall space and project.  We have a data intake process that also includes photographing the space for further analysis.  The fee allows us to discuss freely ‘all the things’ related to the particular type of reno you are looking to implement.  There is no holding back on our part and we share as much information so that you can make an informed and intelligent decision.  There is no obligation beyond this initial consultation if you feel we are not the right firm for you.

Our experience and knowledge has proven invaluable to clients who are on the cusp of making decisions about doing a reno and what different types of renos cost – so that you can budget accordingly.   We’ll discuss renovation experiences, both from client and designer perspectives, what to look for and what to look out for, and I’ll help you define a preliminary budget for your project.  When you’re investing tens of thousands of dollars you need to know what you’re getting in to.  We’ll also review how our design process unfolds, what you can expect from us and what we expect from you when taking on a project. At the end of the meeting we’ll have a thorough scope of work defined, and I’ll answer any questions you might have.

The initial consultation usually takes 1.5 – 2 hours and is a jam-packed session.

Once we have a full understanding of your project, and if we’re both interested in moving forward, then we would prepare your personalized Design & Fee proposal for approval.
