A young professional couple with 3 young children, a dog and a cat, get a full main floor luxury remodel with all the trimmings!
You know the saying ‘one things leads to another’? Well that’s exactly what happened on this project once the clients reached out to me. What started out as a request to select new paint colours and ‘possibly new countertops’ turned into a full gut main floor remodel.
The kitchen was the main point of contention for these clients. She pointed out that the cabinet doors were falling apart and that they would like to update paint colours and possibly change out the granite countertops. They just wanted a refresh but weren’t sure what was possible.
She also shared that the bar-height eating counter proved to be very dangerous when their youngest boy fell off the bar stool – twice – and fractured his jaw once – resulting in a quick trip to emergency care!!
After the initial walk through of the existing kitchen it became clear to me that not only was the kitchen a bit dated it certainly did not speak to the client’s aesthetic and certainly did not meet their current needs. Doing a further tour of the house uncovered several other rooms that needed major help. The flooring also came up as a possibility to change. It was dated, worn and inconsistent throughout several adjacent rooms on the main floor.

WHAT THEY WANTED
- Help with paint colours and possibly new countertops – which eventually turned into a whole main floor renovation
- A wish to maintain a traditional style aesthetic
WHAT WE DID
- Re-designed most of the main floor spaces; kitchen, pantries, mudroom, powder room and dining room
- Worked within the existing footprint – no addition needed!
- Created all project documents for contractor to execute
- Selected and coordinated cabinetry, countertops, lighting, tile, flooring, hardware
- Designed a new island with curved doors and countertop that gave them extra storage and counter space
- Designed custom wood panels for either side of the range hood to create another architectural feature on this wall
- Developed paint colour palette
- Coordinated with contractor and trades for implementation
WHAT THEY GOT
- A full on main floor luxury remodel!
A functional and beautiful kitchen - A larger island with plenty more storage
- Two new pantries; one a dedicated baking space with additional and functional storage, and one as an overflow pantry and family command centre
- A safe and cozy eating area near the kitchen for everyday meals
- New decorative lighting fixtures
- …and whole lotta WOW factor within the same footprint!
